Both the hand rail and the wall cap were laminated bent wood. The wall cap was made up of 16' strips of hemlock3/4" thick ripped to 1/4" wide. It was then glued and nailed in place. After drying it was sanded to final shape. It wasn't too bad for my first set of stairs.
